Avatara System

The Avatara system was a feature added into the game with patch Version 2990407 for the PC version of Final Fantasy XV. The Avatara system includes avatar, Official Treasure, Player Treasure, and Player Photo information, and you must use the online functions to participate in the later three events.

Becoming an Avatar

The Avatara system is only available on the PC Version, but can be accessed at any time; there is no Chapter or Quest restriction. To initially become an avatar, a user-created customization character, you must find Avatara and have the messenger change Noctis Lucis Caelum into an avatar. After the initial creation of a character, Avatara will disappear in all locations, and you can switch between Noctis and the avatar ([Restore Original Look]), as well as create new avatars and delete unwanted ones, under [Main Menu] > [Online] > [Avatara].

Other characters will still refer to your avatar as Noctis. Furthermore, specific events, such as cutscenes or getting knocked out, may return your avatar back to Noctis.

Customization Features

Customization items are almost the same as Multiplayer: Comrades, but Comrades avatars and items do not transfer between Comrades and the Avatara system. You can alter Noctis' appearance except for the head size, voice, and height; these will remain the same as Noctis'. To gain new customization items, you must participate in the Official Treasures, Player Treasures, and Player Photos.

You can use both the Avatara system and Comrades mods with the Avatara system, but other players will not be able to see the mods outside of Player Photos. Instead, others will see a modded avatar as a default avatar.

Online Functions

Connecting to a server is required to see phantoms and participate in Official Treasures, Player Treasures, and Player Photos in the main game. To connect to a server, you must be an avatar. When you are connected to a server, the server name will show in gold in the upper left-hand corner of your screen as "AVATARA" or "AVATARA2." If you are offline, "OFFLINE" will show in grey in that corner or, if you are not an avatar, the server name will not show at all.

You must be an avatar and connected to AVATARA or AVATARA2 to see Official Treasures, Player Treasures, and Player Photos. You cannot see Official Treasures, Player Treasures, and Player Photos while riding on a Chocobo or in the Regalia or while in combat.

As an avatar under default settings, you will see Official Treasures, Player Treasures, and Player Photos. Further, you will see other players' avatars in the world as a "phantom," and other players will see others' avatars as a phantom. The phantoms are not a live feed of other players; instead, players will see where another was at least five to ten minutes prior. Furthermore, the feed is sometimes looped, so players may see a phantom phase in and perform the same movement repeatedly.

If you wish to change the online options, such as show less or no phantoms, you may do so under [Pause] > [Options] > [Online Content]. Certain online content cannot be turned on or off.

Official Treasure

Official Treasures are floating blue crystals available for a limited time. Each rotation begins at midnight on Thursday, UTC, and ends at 23:59 on Wednesday, UTC. Unlike Timed Quests, the location and special rewards are random each week, though they are the same for all players that week. To view the current Official Treasure information under [Main Menu] > [Online] > [Avatara] > [Notification] > [The Official Treasure is out there] and [Official Treasure notification]. The information includes the Official Treasure's location, availability, and winning numbers as well as rewards.

You cannot see Official Treasures while riding on a Chocobo or in the Regalia or while in combat.

Locations and Winning Numbers

All Official Treasures are located in one of the following locations. Match the Official Treasure's location name with the corresponding photo.

You receive the special reward, the last digit of your ordinal number for picking up the treasure must match one of the winning numbers. For example, if one of the winning number is 7, the 7th, 17th, 27th, . . . , 87th, 97th, 107th, . . . , 1007th, . . . player to pick up the treasure will receive a special reward. You may pick up the Official Treasure once per day, giving each player seven tries each week for winning the special reward.

Special Rewards

The following is a list of potential special rewards. You cannot receive the same item twice, despite how many times you win and what week you win.

Player Treasure

Player Treasures are floating gold crystals available for a limited time. Place a Player Treasure for other players to discover using once per day, and the limit resets at 23:00 UTC. You place a treasure at the location of your choosing using [Field Map] > [Whistles] > [Player Treasure]. Unlike Timed Quests, rewards are random each week, though they are the same for all players that week. To view the current Player Treasure reward information under [Main Menu] > [Online] > [Avatara] > [Notification] > [The reward table has been updated] (Player Treasure version). Player Treasures will remain for a maximum of 24 hours.

It takes approximately ten minutes for a Player Treasure to appear. You cannot see Player Treasures while riding on a Chocobo or in the Regalia or while in combat.

Rewards

Player Treasures are divided into three tiers.

Tier Amount of Time Treasure has been Active
1 0 hours 0 minutes to 3 hours 59 minutes
2 4 hours 0 minutes to 15 hours 59 minutes
3 16 hours 0 minutes to 23 hours 59 minutes

When another player picks up a treasure you placed, you will receive the same reward as them. If a user hides a treasure before the deadline and someone finds it after the deadline, the hider gets the treasure from the previous rotation and the finder gets the new rotation of treasures.

The following is a list of potential special rewards. You cannot receive the same item twice, despite how many times you win and what week you win.

Achieving a Certain Tier

Due to the random nature of several factors, achieving a specific reward tier is difficult. If one places a treasure in a popular location, he or she risks someone finding the treasure too quickly. However, placing a treasure in an uncommon location risks no one finding it. Furthermore, no one may be picking up Player Treasures at all.

The best way to achieve a specific reward tier is to place the treasure in a remote location and then asking a friend or using an alternate account to pick up the treasure after a particular time. Publicly announcing the treasure's location after a particular time is also an option, but it is not as assured as the previous method.

Player Photo

Player Photos are map markers with camera icons available for a limited time. Place a Player Photo for other players to discover using up to ten times per week, and the limit resets at 23:00 UTC. You place a photo at the location of your choosing by taking a photo using [Field Map] > [Camera] > [Take Photo], taking a photo, and finally selecting the option to place the photo. Unlike Timed Quests, rewards are random each week, though they are the same for all players that week. To view the current Player Photo reward information under [Main Menu] > [Online] > [Avatara] > [Notification] > [The reward table has been updated] (Player Treasure version). Player Treasures will remain for a maximum of seven days.

Only new photos can be placed, up to 10 at a time. If you go over the limit, the oldest photos will be swapped out for the new ones. The rewards are determined based on the number of likes given. Inappropriate photos can be reported by users and will be taken down if Square Enix verifies that the report was justified. Some users have reported that photos with mods will be removed by Square Enix, though Square Enix stated that some photos are removed via an automated filtering system. [1] Your photos may be unshared if you do not log in for a certain amount of time.

It takes approximately ten minutes for a Player Treasure to appear. You cannot see Player Treasures while riding on a Chocobo or in the Regalia or while in combat.
